Kitchen and Bathroom.

Today was a good day. I slept in til 11am, got up, got ready, went and saw the grandparents, did their medicines for the week, then I met up with mom for dinner and some shopping! The other day she had gone to Bath & Body Works because they are having a mega sale on everything. She got me some anti-bacterial soaps and some body washes. Thanks mom! So we had dinner at Red, Hot & Blue, then headed to Ulta. So anyhoo on to loft stuff. The other day I took some more photos of things around the place and here we go.

KITCHEN

I think I posted this one yesterday, but you can see it's all stainless appliances, and there's a radiant heat cook top on the stove. I need to get some special cleaner for that somewhere.

This was before I moved in, but it shows the folding doors in the back, that's where the washer and dryer is and the water heater.

Meet Mr. Whale. I got him from Urban Outfitters and he is supposed to be an ashtray, but I am going to use him as a scrubby holder.

He goes "rarrrrr!"

Here's one of the hanging lights in the kitchen.

mustache-light?

(for those of you reading this who do not know about the mustache, at my best friend's wedding back in October in Oregon, she made these mustaches for everyone to take funny pictures with, and I of course brought it home. It's fun to go around and take pictures. We had a blast in Portland. haha.

Here's Mr. Mustache next to a lamp that I have yet to place in the loft.

I also need a place for this peacock feather to go. It's too beautiful to throw away.

This last Sunday was my cousin Doug and his wife Amy's baby shower that was thrown by the aunt's at my Aunt Mary Lou's house. There were cute flower arrangements and my aunt let me have one so I brought it home and uh oh. I have no vase. So I used this green glass cup I had in my bathroom to hold my toothbrush. Hah.

CUTE!

My fridge is pretty bare right now, but I do have the necessities: milk, cheese, CHAMPAGNE, and iced tea.

and BATHROOM!

Bathroom before...

countertop after, with all my junk on it. haha.

These are my "nice" towels hanging on the rod above the toilet. I'm trying to go with the whole dark teal, brown, and orange theme because of the shower curtain, but I have yet to find the right color of dark teal. argh! So orange and brown it is for now.

Love it.

This was another neat find from Urban Outfitters. It's a feather-shaped jewelry tray/holder. and BONUS! it goes with the birds on the shower curtain...

I don't have any other place to put my shower goods other than in the corners or on the edge. Ideas?

There is one thing I can't stand in the loft. On my mirror in the bathroom, the previous people super glued these ugly frosted glass mirror things on the side. For the life of me I can't pry them off!!!

grosssssss.

And now I must go to bed. Even though I don't have to wake up at 5am anymore to go to work, 6am isn't much better. :)

Deets.

I thought I would put up some detailed photos of the loft that I took today after work. The amount of light in the apartment is crazy! I absolutely love it. I only have to use lights at night, and only like one light in the kitchen. Yay for saving electricity!

let there be light!

This is the Dallas Power & Light building of lofts. Or as Downtownians (is that what they are called?) call it, the DP&L. And this was taken outside my windows.

I can see Neiman's from here! The red awning is their cafe.

Looking straight down....eeek!

Ok now for some inside pics.

The kitchen lights.

This is the Ikea dresser that took me a couple hours to build. The green glass on top is the same glass on top of the side tables by my bed. (only cost me like $5, and $0.99 for the side table ones. hah.)

A view of the dresser next to the bed.

hey sock monkey slippers!

This is the ceiling in the living area. You can also see all the exposed air ducts and stuff in the kitchen lights photo above.

The ceiling fan above the bed.

I took a bunch of photos today but I want to save some for another post. Tomorrow I'll post some kitchen and bathroom details.

I'm in!

Sorry for the delay in posting, but this past weekend I finally got all moved in to the loft! Thursday night I moved some heavy furniture boxes into the place, and Friday morning the movers came. They were so quick! So then it was off to start building furniture and unpacking. It took a few hours to put my dresser together but it looks awesome! ok here are the pictures!

My bed, and the dresser while being built.

View from tv/living area.

My door! I live on the 6th floor! (that is neat.)

Doormat. (the little blue fishy says "hello" inside it.

My bestie Kayla got me these shadowboxes for Christmas and I put them in the front entryway by the kitchen. cute!

Kitchen. yay stainless!

The view during the day of the DP&L building across the street. They have a sweet pool.

Night view up above.

Another view.

My first breakfast in the new place Saturday morning. New York bagel from Cindy's NY Delicatessen and fresh coffee.

Well there it is. There is still more editing to be done to the place. I need big pieces of artwork for 2 walls. And some accent chairs for the living area. Birthday is coming up so maybe I'll get some then! Ok I'm using the market's wifi down in the lobby of the lofts so I'm going to go back upstairs and relax! I'll have internet next week hopefully.

keys!

Tomorrow is the day! I get my keys to the loft! I'm so excited! Which is why I'm using lots of exclamation points! haha. So tomorrow I'm unloading some heavy furniture boxes after work because it costs too much for the movers to move them. argh. Then bright and early Friday morning come the movers to move my boxes, bed, and more boxes.

There are still a few things to purchase, but all in good time. Ok off to bed, I'm exhausted from packing up last minute things.

Dallas Snow!

WOW! Today has been one crazy day! Almost a foot of snow here in north Texas. craaaaazzzzy! So I just wanted to post a few snowy fun pics.

(this was taken in a downtown Dallas highrise building looking down on the rooftop of another building.) haha LOVES IT!

Floorplan!

So this is what I'm dealing with. The way the furniture is layed out on this picture is basically how mine will be. The couch will be slightly closer to the TV wall than pictured, and I will have 2 accent chairs along the wall with the windows. Did I mention there is a WHOLE ENTIRE WALL of just floor to ceiling windows?! awesome! So much light! And it faces into downtown, bonus! I'm really ecstatic. Oh and the closet is GINORMOUS! I guess I'll have to fill it with some new clothes hah.

Well I'm at work right now (so I probably shouldn't be blogging but oh well), almost done for the day. This weekend I work 9:30am to 7:30pm Saturday AND Sunday. But hey, it's money! I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the Super Bowl tomorrow! woot!

Argh.

Well a tiny little set back....

New move-in date is now Friday the 19th. 2 more weeks. ugh. Slight problem with the apartment, but I'd rather have everything working properly before I get my keys. It's all ok. I can deal with it...I think.

Oh and if anyone is feeling generous and loves me a ton, I would like to have this in my new loft. (sarcasm here.)

(Crate & Barrel 2 is amazing!)

Alright, back to more planning and packing.

Couch

My mom is graciously giving me her awesome dark grey couch to go in my new loft. It's super comfortable and pretty much BRAND NEW!

And this past weekend, along with bestie Kayla, I found these awesome pillows to go on it.

I freaking LOVE them!

This week I have been a packing machine. Seriously, I have my kitchen stuff all packed, all my books, dvds, cd cases, and my dresser. All I have left if my closet....DUN DUN DUNNNN. That will be a major task. But I just have to do it. I want the movers to only have to move the minimal amount of stuff. I'm going to try and take all my boxes myself throughout next week, so the movers can just move the bed, tv, couch, and side tables. (all my other furniture resides in Ikea boxes in my current living room.)

(These are the boxes of my furniture, just waiting to go to their new home this weekend.)

(and these are my kitchen/dresser/books boxes. I told you I was a busy girl yesterday and today.)

Well I think it is time for a little rest. Tomorrow starts day 1 of my 9 days straight of working...ugh.

Furniture.

Well since I'm not filthy rich and moving into downtown, the cheaper the price, the better. So I went with a lot of Ikea furniture. (thank you Sweden.) I already had my bed and side tables from there so why not. I just purchased a 6 drawer dresser that will fit perfectly under the windows. And and and! I got some green glass to go on top of it. It was $5, come on. Couldn't pass that up. Also I got green glass pieces to go on top of my side tables for 99 cents each. Wowza!

-so imagine this with green glass on it. sweet.

I determined that living in one big, long room, I'm going to need some type of dividing unit or something. So I went with the Expedit 5x5 shelving system.

Oh! and I'm getting the desk attachment to put on there that will be under another window in the "bedroom" side of the loft.

The overall color scheme I'm going to use is brown, teal, and orange. All inspiration from a shower curtain...(thank you urban outfitters.)

I know this picture is tiny, I couldn't find it any larger. But you get the idea, it has bright colored birds in brown cages. Here's the link.

I keep finding all these cute things that I want to buy and put in the apartment, and whenever I end up making all these purchases, I will be sure to let you all know and post pictures.

**omg I can't wait til Fridayyyyyy! yay keys!
