Welcome!

Hey there all. One of my bestest friends in the world, Jessica, suggested I start this blog to share all my experiences with moving out into the real world all alone and into my awesome new downtown Dallas loft! She lives waaaay out in Portland, Oregon and isn't here to see it all happening so this will be a fun way to share it all with her and everyone. :)

So first off, let's talk about where I'm moving to. It is called the Interurban Building, off Jackson street in the heart of downtown Dallas. It's a historic building that was remodeled back in 2004 and made into lofts. Originally built in 1916, the Interurban Building was a train station for people coming in and out of Dallas.

(here is the building when it was a train depot)

This building is just super cool and I absolutely love it. And to make it an even sweeter deal, I work in the same building....I do the accounting for the grocery store/cafe/bar in the bottom floor of the building. How neat is that?! So basically I can just walk downstairs and go to work, instead of having to get up, drive 15 minutes and park.

Ok so here are some pics of the inside of my loft, pre-paint/furniture/everything.

-this is the living area/tv wall.

-this is the complete 180 degree wall, where my bed and stuff will go.

-this is the view looking in to the loft from the front door. kitchen to the right, tv/living area to the right, bed and bathroom to the left.

-here's looking into the kitchen from the middle of the loft area.

and last but not least...the bathroom.

And there it is. I get my keys and sign my lease on this Friday the 5th, then I'll have a week to move stuff on my own before the movers come to haul the big stuff, i.e. couch, bed, etc., on Sunday the 14th. (I got a cheaper deal for it being on a Sunday. hah.) I plan on posting more later today so that you can see what all I've bought and I'll put up a floor plan so you all can see how it'll be layed out with the furniture.

woot.
